Ninjas in Pyjamas announced via their website that Troels 'syndereN' Nielson would be replaced by Aydin 'iNsania' Sarkohi, formerly of ProDota.

syndereN joined Ninjas in Pyjamas, along with several of his teammates, after a successful run with Escape Gaming at The International 2016. Upon joining the team, syndereN noted that the organization's clout burdened the team of veterans with immediate high expectations. After failing to qualify for several major tournaments and placing no higher than 4th at any event in 2017, NiP felt that introducing some new blood might help the team achieve their desired results.

In a press release on their website, Ninjas in Pyjamas announced that they would be returning to Dota 2 with the old Escape Gaming squad.

Although Escape never managed to post any impressive results, they were able to qualify for a lot of events. Since parting ways with Escape, synderN recruited veteran Fnatic players Trixi and H4nn1. It has been a long time since either of them played consistently in a professional team, making this new NiP squad interesting to watch.

A greedy draft led to Escape Gaming's loss in the best of one against Fnatic this Monday, removing Escape Gaming from the tournament. syndereN ended with a 0/4/6 KDA

syndereN's blunders in this best of one started out in the drafting stage, as he selected a greedy lineup to face Fnatic's more well-balanced team. Farm was spread too thinly across their team throughout the game, especially for syndereN as Silencer. He needed items to make his hero survive as an effective presence on the battlefield, but, as a position five, his team's farm took precedence over his own, and so he contributed little more than Global Silence. He also died more than any other player, ending the game with four deaths.

syndereN was picked on the most as Escape Gaming was defeated 2-0 by Evil Geniuses in Day 2 of Group Stages of The International 6. syndereN finished with a 2/13/4 KDA in the series.

Leading the team in deaths with 13, syndereN was clearly out of his league as he was taking on Evil Geniuses. The task was daunting, but the expected result happened and Escape Gaming cannot be too surprised or even heartbroken. This series can serve as a great learning experience for Escape and show them what it will take to be one of the greats.

syndereN earned a 2/10/8 KDA during Escape's terrible defeat against Wings.

synedereN took Ogre Magi to Game 1 of his series against Wings, and while the pick would prove itself in lane, his obvious rotations around the map made it very easy for Wings to pick him off early on in the game, making him little more than a piggy bank for Wings to break open as they pleased. Unfortunately, that gold would go to good use, as Shadow got completely out of control by the end of the game, and his damage combined with the AoE crowd control that the rest of the team brought overwhelmed Escape, and synedereN couldn't stop his team from getting overwhelmed with his almost entirely single-target kit. Game 2 would go even worse, as his Dazzle pick fell completely flat in the early game. He would end up dying for first blood to Shadow after a skirmish just after creeps hit in the top lane, in what would prove to be one of the game's deciding moments. Escape simply crumbled after that death was compounded with a horribly botched tower dive in the bottom lane, and Escape would end up surrendering the series to Wings before the 20-minute mark after failing to find any footing whatsoever.

syndereN was the weak link in a great team win as Escape Gaming defeated Power Rangers 2-1 in round 1 of the lower bracket in the Global Grand Master playoffs. syndereN finished with a 8/22/34 KDA and destroyed a tower in the series.

After watching Power Rangers run away with Game 1, all of Escape needed to step up as they were now just one game away from elimination. Power Rangers grabbed the Game 2 lead, but Escape stole it back as syndereN had his best game of the series. Playing Dazzle, syndereN racked up 17 assists while only dying four times as Escape evened up the series 1-1. Game 3 started with another Power Rangers lead, but with the confidence from Game 2, Escape stormed back to take the game and the series. syndereN struggled again in Game 3, as he was easily the worst performer on the winning team. Escape will need more from him if they want to continue.
