RotoWire Fantasy Analysis

Tate has been acquired by the Redblacks, Steve Lloyd of TSN reports.

With Henry Burris now retired, Ottawa needed depth at quarterback, and they got it in Tate, who served most of last season as a backup but was serviceable when called upon. It is unclear at this point who will be called upon to start for the Redblacks. Tate, Brock Jensen, Danny O'Brien and Trevor Harris all played snaps last year, but none of them have established themselves as head signal-callers in the CFL.

RotoWire Fantasy Analysis

Tate is expected to start Sunday's game against the Alouettes, 3DownNation reports.

With the Stampeders' playoff positioning secure, it appears the team will give regular starting quarterback Bo Levi Mitchell a rest, and let Tate take the snaps this week. Tate has appeared in just two games this season and has only six pass attempts, but he should see a full complement of snaps this week.

RotoWire Fantasy Analysis

Tate completed 10-of-13 passes for 76 yards with a touchdown and interception in Calgary's 31-21 preseason victory over the BC Lions on Friday. He also gained a yard on one rush attempt.

The 11-year veteran, set to back up Bo Levi Mitchell this season, looked sharp after coming on to start the second half. He completed his first three passes, and hooked up with Bakari Grant for an eight-yard touchdown at the end of the third period. Tate, who turned in a similarly efficient performance in the Stampeders' preseason opener by completing 7-of-12 attempts for 67 yards, provides Calgary with quality, experienced depth behind Mitchell. The 31-year-old completed 28-of-37 passes for 322 yards and three touchdowns for the club last season while averaging 8.7 yards per attempt, which equaled the second-highest figure of his career in that category.
